Performance: The PS-1 is highly regulated 24VDC, 2 Amp (continuous) power supply capable of supplying up to 66 BP-1 belt packs with all signal lights constantly lit. It may be rack mounted or used as a table-top unit, when fitted with its optional plain side panels and plastic feet.
The PS-1 may be used alone to power a single-circuit system, or it may be combined with our MSM-1 to form what is commonly referred to as a Main, or Master Station.
The toroidal transformer used in the PS-1 provides greater efficiency, lower hum, and reduced strayfield radiation compared with conventional types, and allows the single rack unit configuration. The transformer is multi-tap, allowing for operation at 100, 120, 220 or 240VAC. There is sufficient iron in the core to accommodate 50 or 60Hz supply frequencies. A convenient AC inlet permits supply voltage choices by removing and rotating the insert. The regulator IC also provides protection against overloads and short circuits. In the event of a protective shut-down, turning the main AC switch off and back on, after removing the short, will restore power to the system.
For the sake of economy and simplicity, the PS-1 has only one 3-pin XLR-type connector on the rear panel. For more complex systems we recommend that you consider the PS-2. That unit has the same cabinet and main components as the PS-1, but also has 3 XLR-type outlets, front panel switches to connect and disconnect the three circuits, and LED signal indicators for two of the circuits.
Durability: The steel cabinet, firmly secured components, and best-quality XLR-type connector all contribute to the PS-1’s outstanding ability to withstand rough usage.
Value: Simplicity of construction and the resulting ease of assembly affords the use of high-quality components and a price much below comparable 2Amp, rack-mountable, power supplies.
Compatibility: The PS-1 may be used with Clear-Com® and other less well-known unbalanced 200 ohm headset communications systems stations.
