Performance: The HS-1 series headset stations provide the same facilities as our BP-1 portable headset stations (belt packs) in formats suitable for flush mounting and, in the /T versions (as shown above) for wall hanging or the desktop. Multi-circuit versions (M) incorporate a rotary selector switch which can be set for connection to any one of 9 different communications circuits. As shipped they are set for 2 circuits. The heavy metal cabinet used by the /T versions has keyhole slots for wall mounting and plastic feet for the desktop. The front panel is also suitable for mounting in a standard 3-gang, masonry electrical box. Frequency response has been carefully shaped to optimize both intelligibility and long-term listening comfort. A mic limiter circuit reduces overload distortion. The high bridging impedance ensures that system and sidetone levels do not vary as other stations are switched in and out of the circuit. The front panel contains controls for switching the microphone on and off, for controlling listening level, and for signaling. The signal light button also serves as the signal light. A recessed, screwdriver-adjust control is provided for varying the level of the user’s voice to be heard in his own earphone (sidetone). Connection to an HS-1 or HS-1M is via a locking terminal strip on the edge of the circuit card. The HS-1/T and HS-1M/T have XLR connectors on the rear panel for connection of the station and daisy chaining on to the next station in the circuit. The HS-1/T has three pion connectors while the HS-1M/T has 6 pin connectors.
Durability: The component board of the HS-1’s is mounted to a thick metal mounting plate. Long-life switches and controls are used. The /T cabinet is constructed to withstand the rugged use associated with touring.
Value: Simplicity of construction affords the use of high quality components while maintaining a favorable cost/benefit ratio.
Compatibility: The HS-1 and HS-1M are compatible with Clear-Com® and other lesser-known (unbalanced 200ohm) headset intercom systems.
