Performance: The AS-100 broadcaster’s announce and communications stations are designed to allow the announcer to broadcast and communicate with one headset. The station is intended to be associated with a compatible intercom or IFB system and will normally draw its power from that system. Where no intercom or IFB exists, a power supply is available that will power the AS-100 and up to 10 belt packs or IFB packs connected to the AS-100 rear panel, creating a complete, simple system. The units are available stand-alone or mounted in a rugged case with sufficient room for headset storage. The first versions are rack-mount, but desk-top models are planned. The headset connects via standard broadcast connectors, a 3-pin XLR for the microphone, and a tip-ring-sleeve ¼" phone plug for the earspeakers.
Right and left earspeakers have independent volume controls, as the left ear will be used for communications and the right for IFB/Communications. Rear panel XLR connectors are provided for connections to the intercom or IFB (loop-thru) and broadcast equipment. The broadcast output is a balanced, transformer isolated line level signal.
The announcer is provided with a Mute button that will allow intercom communications and conversations between announcers without going out over the air/sound system. It is brightly lit for outdoor applications. It can also function as a cough button. A second button allows the announcer to access the talk-back feature of the intercom system. An ultra bright LED functions as a signal lamp for the intercom function.
.Internal jumpers provide the ability to adjust the output levels of the AS100, both the line level and the intercom/IFB. The AS-100 is designed with our DMH9000 and DMH948ACS broadcast headsets in mind but are compatible with most 'on-air' quality headsets using phantom power for their microphones, as well as units with non-powered microphones.
